Dear Friends and Supporters of the Rebuilding Our Church Campaign,
Happy Easter!
Cathedral renewal work continues. Here’s an update on what’s been happening, with the cathedral renewal work and more.

South Stair Replacement: Progress
Advances have been made on the south stair: the steel structure and framing have been built, steel stairs and steel/concrete landings have been constructed, the roofing is complete, the exterior gypsum sheathing has been installed and the air vapour barrier installation is nearing completion.

Opportunity to Reacquire Former Church Land : Update
Sadly, due to the irreparability of Holy Rosary School, the Regina Catholic School Division (RCSD) determined that the building will need to be demolished after the 2023-24 school year. The parcel of land adjacent to the cathedral, where the school and Catholic Education Centre currently sit, historically belonged to the church before it was transferred to the RCSD in 1914.

In March of this year, the Regina Catholic School Board and the Archdiocese of Regina signed a Purchase and Sale Agreement for the Holy Rosary School/CEC site. It is our hope that in time this will become the future home of the Archdiocesan Pastoral Centre.
Peepaw Lake Culture Camp
Abundant thanks to those of you who donated to the archdiocese’s TRC Healing Response Fund, either by redirecting or by adding to your Rebuilding Our Church pledges. Here is a video from the second Peepaw Lake Culture Camp supported by your gifts and funded through the national Indigenous Reconciliation Fund:

Looking to the Future
What’s next for the cathedral work? The next two work packages (the towers and the lower level) are in the design phase so that we can create a scope of work and a budget for what financial resources will be needed to complete them.
What’s next for the capital campaign? Since it is still in the quiet phase for now, once the design information and budgets are further developed, we will be approaching donors in the hope that they will help with the funds required to undertake the next packages of work. Later, when the time is right, we will ask everyone in the parish, the archdiocese and the wider community to consider participating. We hope friends and supporters will contribute what they can, so that our cathedral building can survive and serve for the next 100 years.
We offer heartfelt thanks to all of you who have supported this campaign so far. Because this whole process has taking much longer than anyone expected, some of you who donated early have reached the end of your 5-year pledge commitment: we are so grateful to those of you who have generously extended your pledges so that this important and much-needed work can continue.
As always, we trust in the guidance of the Holy Spirit in Rebuilding Our Church, as we move through the surprises, challenges and graces we experience each day.
Easter blessings,
Your Campaign Team Archbishop Don Bolen, Lisa Polk, Michelle Sanche, John Dipple, Mo Bundon, Samy McCarthy, Ron Kruzeniski, Garth Herbert and James Lipoth P.S. Feel free to contact us if you have questions or comments: [email protected]
