Faith and Renewal: Tony and Denise Vandenhurk

Denise and I were married in 1980 in her hometown of Radville, Saskatchewan. We raised our family on my home farm which is located near Macoun Saskatchewan. We had our first child Nicholas in 1981 and 6 years later we adopted 2 infant children from Brazil, Zacch & Danielle. We are still active in agriculture and the summers can be quite busy.  The kids are now married and have families of their own.  We will be expecting our twelfth grandchild in 2021.

As a family we have always been active in the Macoun Catholic Parish, on the council, teaching catechism, and participating in the liturgy. Our Christian upbringing and our family prayer life has always played a big part of our reactions to the good times and the trials that life can bring along the journey.

We are grateful for so many things starting with our parents and the values they taught us.  We are grateful for family, health and talents that we have been blessed with. We are grateful for our ability to make sacrifices today so we can have a better tomorrow.

All the above are some of the reasons we chose to donate to the Rebuilding Our Church Campaign.  We hope our donation will play a part in renewing the cathedral and also renewing our faith in God for many people to come.

We realize that this is a huge undertaking and that a lot of people will have to be generous to fulfill this request. We feel quite blessed to be a part of the project.  We think it must have been an overwhelming vision to initially take on but we believe that God wants us to pull together and make this project a success.
