Dear Friends and Supporters of the Rebuilding Our Church Campaign,
Here’s an update on what’s been happening with the campaign and in our archdiocese.
Cathedral Renewal Update
As of May 25th, bid packages have been sent out for the first two components of the Phase 1 work packages: Barrier-free Access and South Stair Replacement. The closing date for receiving bids will be June 22nd, and we are hoping the successful contractor will begin work in July.
This is an important milestone for the renewal of the cathedral, and we thank our volunteer working group of: Ray Plosker, Rob Chapple, Tim Lux, Matthew Dipple, and Bob Faris.
The working group has been supported by project management firm Drew Consulting (Teresa Drew and Sanam Iftikhar), and architectural firm SEPW (Dylan Elliott, Grayson DePape and Greg Popowich).
Project team members have shared their expertise and spent countless hours preparing to move the work packages forward.
Holy Rosary Cathedral Opens its Doors at the Cathedral Village Arts Festival
During a number of past Cathedral Village Arts Festivals, Holy Rosary has hosted mini-tours and Casavant pipe organ demonstrations. This year it was time for something new: the cathedral was open from 1-4pm on May 27th, and a group of 20 volunteers from various parishes invited and welcomed festival attendees to visit the church, pray, ask questions, and experience adoration. More than 1200 visitors appreciated the opportunity to experience our cathedral.
As a Campaign Cabinet Committee, we look forward to continuing to report to you about our progress in the coming months.
