Heritage Attention

Even more good news: Phase 1 of our project (Accessibility and South Stair Replacement) has been awarded the Lieutenant Governor’s Heritage Award for Conservation of Heritage Places. Archdiocese of Regina Director of Pastoral Services and Operations, Lisa Polk, and Holy Rosary Cathedral’s pastor, Fr. Danilo Rafael, accepted the award. Various volunteer team members and representatives from &Architecture and Drew Consulting joined in the celebration.

Note: We appreciate Fr. Danilo’s steadfast support of this project over his years at Holy Rosary, and we look forward to his continued assistance and encouragement as he begins his ministry at Little Flower Parish.

What’s next for Phase 2 (Spire Replacement)?

PCL will begin preparatory work in August/September of this year by constructing ladders and platforms inside the towers to provide secure access to the base of the spires. The actual removal of the spires is planned to occur in early spring, 2027.

What’s next for Phase 3 (Infrastructure and Lower Level)?
Construction drawings for this part of the project are now 33% complete, with the full design documents expected this fall. Currently, the Working Group and design team are evaluating the details to find areas for cost savings and to ensure maximum cost effectiveness.

We continue to invite and welcome your support for both phases via one-time donations and 5-year pledges. If funds allow, we may be able to advance both the spire replacement and the infrastructure/lower level work in 2027, and minimize the disruption of Holy Rosary’s service to our community.
